Minibrix was a construction toy company made in Petersfield, Hampshire from 1935 to 1976. The interlocking bricks look similar to Lego, but were first made 14 years before Legos plastic version appeared. Although other toy bricks have been credited with inspiring the makers of Lego, it is possible that Minibrix too played a role in the creation of one of the 20th centurys most popular toys.

Despite making economies in production after the war, sales of Minibrix had begun to decline by the late 1950s. Premo tried to diversify by producing and marketing other toys, including teddy bears. A fire in the factory in 1961 put an end to these developments.

Mini is made by Minibrix. Apparently the firm usually made toy bricks (like Lego, but rubber), but made a few other toys between 1959-1961, then the factory caught fire and they ceased production.

He has a label tucked under his arm that says ‘Minibrix Hygenic Toys’. He is 16″ tall.
