Solid elm and beech. Polished natural colour. The Ercolani’s ingenuity has produced a Windsor chair that stacks straight. Beautifully made, with seats of solid elm and the rest in beech. Immensely strong, and aesthetically extremely pleasant, yet very lightweight. The careful shaping of the back uprights and tails is designed to give full comfort and support.

These chairs successfully passed the rigid performance tests of the BSI and those sponsored by the Ministry of Education in their draft performance for school chairs before coming a staple in churches, schools and public buildings. They were superseded by the much less environmentally friendly and shorter-lived aluminium/ply and poly chairs which adorn skips today.

This item was in production between 1956 and 1977.
