This is a very special bear with history and comes with a framed colour copy (2.5 x 3″) of a picture of his original owner in his WWI uniform. “Harry” is named after owner, Harry Frederick of Indiana. Kept in a glass case for much of his life. Sold to me by his great nephew who was also selling the military uniform, war correspondence and artifices. He was born, raised, lived and died in Vigo County, Terre Haute Indiana. After the war, he came home to a wife, was an insurance salesman and had no children. At 14″ tall, Harry is still full and chubby, stuffed with cork and excelsior. He has a good coverage of mohair which has been cleaned to a bright golden blonde. Some wear to his nose stitching over fabric and 1 old stockinette cover in black on left paw. Card-lined feet revealed through felt on right foot. 5 claws/paw and pad, quiet (?) squeaker, thin yellow/green silk ribbon around neck-original. Made by the American company c1907, Aetna bears have a charm all of their own with the best faces. Harry has a quizzical expression with his glowing, amber glass eyes. A very handsome bear in very good condition.
